Field Coordinator
Milagros Reyes is a geographer and researcher with Wired Amazon, trained at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. She joined Wired Amazon in 2024 and has since participated in research and citizen science activities across Rainforest Expeditions lodges, with a special interest in mammals, amphibians, and reptiles.
Her fascination with the Amazon comes from the region’s extraordinary biological diversity and rich cultural heritage. Milagros is currently part of the Discovering New Species project, where she works alongside visitors and scientists to explore and document rainforest biodiversity while fostering a deeper connection between people and nature.
She believes that even the smallest organisms, such as insects, play a fundamental role in maintaining ecosystem balance. Through every activity, Milagros encourages visitors to recognize that our actions can have a lasting impact on the conservation of places as valuable as the Amazon.
One of her favorite places in Tambopata is Lake Tres Chimbadas, where she enjoys observing the remarkable diversity of life surrounding its waters. She is also passionate about night walks, when the sounds of the rainforest become more intense and the star-filled sky reveals another dimension of the Amazon. In addition, she deeply values traditional knowledge of medicinal plants and enjoys capturing unique and unrepeatable moments of the rainforest through photography.
